Festivals in July

Summer Awesomeness = Montenegro in July!

There is something for everybody in Montenegro’s July calendar; the abundant schedule keeps going into August and September without stopping and touches on subjects from fun, theater and music to science, culture and architecture.

June 28 – August 13
KotorArt
The Old Town (Stari Grad) The Kotor Art festival is a long-running event of national importance composed of several parts.

More than 100 events are lined up, often taking place in churches and varied concert venues; more than 20 venues in all.

A central feature of the festival is Kotor’s Festival of Theater for Children. In addition to music and performances, the festival even includes an architectural conference and workshop plus a three-day festival of philosophy! The Philosopher’s Square event (July 24th – 27th) will focus this year on “Apocalypse Now” in various formats.

Jun 22 - Aug 31

This summer-long festival is in full swing in July: There are several theater performances throughout the month.

Theatre on Terazije opened the festival on the Summer Stage on June 22nd with the “Chicago” musical, and the festival will be closed on August 31st with the concert “The Good Voice - The Actor Sings” from the Montenegrin National Theater.

July 1 – September 1
“Ljeto u Prijestonici”
Performing Arts in Cetinje

“Summer-long festival, with live music, art exhibitions, folkloric dancing, classic car displays, literary events, food stalls… if it’s cultural, edible or just plain fun, this whopping festival has it going on.”

Cetinje (pronounced “SETinyeh”) is just a dozen miles from Kotor; a worthy day trip into the mountains. The city of about 13,000 is the old capital of Montenegro and is full of gawk-worthy history and flavor. Very tourist friendly!

It’s also home to Cetinje Monastery, located in the former capital of Montenegro, the city of Cetinje which is widely known in the Orthodox world, because it holds such spiritual treasures as the particles of The Holy Cross, on which Our Lord was crucified, the right hand of John the Baptist, who baptized the Lord in the Jordan and the Filerma icon of the Mother of God, painted by the Apostle Luke as well as the relics of St. Peter of Cetinje, one of the most venerated saints in the country.

July 22nd  we’re taking you off the beaten track to Kotor Art International Festival from Sunday to Monday, August 13th.2018 when artists united by a common love of music will showcase over 100 performances in more than 20 locations. Here you will see a live Facebook stream of their talent, a live stream of a princesses’ plaintiff song pleading to be rescued and the knights in armor who rise to the occasion in the best preserved Medieval city of Kotor.

July 25-27 -2018 this year InArt fest made a debut with exceptional shows that drew viewers of all ages into a world of wonder.
