Though the odds are stacked against him at the Olympic level he is confident and happy to strive for India and compete despite the challenges! We wish him success and congratulate him as he collects his Arjuna Award on the National Sports Day from President Ram Nath Kovind on August 29-2019
Sunday August 26, 2018—Fouaad Mirza broke a decades-long dry spell for India Sunday by bringing home an equestrian individual medal in the Asian Games (Asiad) for the first time since 1982. Mirza also guided the Indian team to a second place overall finish.
Mirza showcased top-level riding skills in Jakarta while riding Seigneur Medicott, a former European Championship winning mount. Mirza led the event after qualifiers and only missed overall gold by nicking a single fence, dropping behind Japan’s Oiwa Yoshiaki.
